Public meetings
The public events began last week, with the meeting “Working in Casorate“. The municipal administration met with the traders, with the aim of «put together an urban plan that is also advantageous for the activities in the town», says Tomasini. «We had a very positive discussion and we thank all the operators, who presented rich ideas». Precisely with the owners of the Casorate businesses, a «walk» on the agenda for June 17, which will be useful for «identifying the significant points on which to try to intervene». The second meeting is “Living in Casorate“, which will be open to all citizens: «The municipal administration will act as a listener, ready to receive ideas of all kinds to develop the future together». Finally, there are also «other social and technical issues». Especially now that there will be the scooping services conference at Vas: «Each of the entities involved – explains the councilor – they will be able to express their points of view on the document the professionals are working on».
The Casorate of tomorrow
But beyond the necessary steps, there is no shortage of political objectives. «Casorate is a place of interference, for better or for worse», continues Tomasini. «There is the Malpensa railway project, there is the Sempione and there is the airport which is always a much discussed topic. From these themes we start to face many challenges: promoting and defending the territory to project ourselves into the future.” At the moment «we are still in the listening phase, but the limits are there. 50% of the town is a wooded area, which must be maintained: it cannot be touched. We don’t have a magic wand but we try the best tools to improve life in Casoratecontinuing to create meeting places: the new Piazza Mazzini and the restoration of the former town hall they were great objectives for us, just as the creation of the area in front of the gym was a great achievement.” Without forgetting the theme «fundamental» of urban regeneration.
