“In the southern sector of Piazza Andrea Costa in Fano, further structures from the Roman era emerged, following the reconstruction of the water underground services”. This was made known by the superintendency of Pesaro Urbino and Ancona, which in recent days has made new discoveries, after those that began in February among corpses and unexpected wells.

“In particular – we read in a note – the continuation of an area paved in black and white mosaic already seen in the northern portion of the square was intercepted. It would therefore be a large classroom (approximately 16 x 16 metres, but still being excavated and cleaned) with walls approximately 1.20 meters high and covered in marble, which is unfortunately poorly preserved. Among the most particular finds, an engraved carnelian bezel was recovered, depicting a faun (mythological being, half man and half goat) with a curved stick (pedum) in his left hand and a bunch of grapes in his right.”
