Bari, Conte at the San Paolo with Laforgia: “For legality”

“On 8 and 9 June we will vote for the European elections but we will also vote for the Municipality and we support Michele Laforgia, we believe it is the right renewal for the progressive coalition. Therefore we can enhance the administrative experience that has concluded but also relaunch the right elements of renewal. And above all, wage a great battle for legality and transparency with Laforgia.” Giuseppe Conte, the president of the M5s, said this in Bari to support the centre-left candidate for mayor, Michele Laforgia, during the rally held in the San Paolo district in which the candidate for president of Municipality 3, Chiara Riccardi, also took part.

Various topics were addressed during the rally, from the issue of wars in Ukraine and Palestine and the clear no to the sending of weapons, to the issue of the environment and healthcare, but not only that, also to that which concerns the future of city of Bari, where, Laforgia recalled, “there is still the inspection commission which will probably conclude its work in September, after the new mayor and the new council have arrived”. “We cannot afford to be relegated to a dissolved municipality due to mafia infiltration – he added – and for this reason we have the vote available for the candidate and the candidates different from those we have had so far, for a profound renewal of the municipal council, for a new political class ” – he concluded.

During the rally Michele Laforgia, candidate for Mayor of Bari, made a pact with the city. His words are incisive and clear in proposing a solemn pact with the citizens of Bari, choosing to stipulate it in Piazza Europa, so that it is a sign of hope for a European Union more capable of responding to the hopes of its citizens, capable of defeating all sovereignism, all return to the past, every war, every injustice. In particular, Laforgia has undertaken, together with Conte, to ensure that all the tenders of the Municipality of Bari and the Metropolitan City of Bari are published as soon as possible and all the funds are correctly spent in compliance with the deadlines of the PNRR and that these tenders oblige companies to respect the Municipal Minimum Wage of 9 euros per hour or the most favorable treatment provided for by the collective agreements signed by the most representative acronyms. This is to create 24,000 new, good, jobs over the next 3 years.”

“The Five Star Movement predicts that it will be decisive for the new European Commission – Conte continued – because the risk is that there will be a stalemate between the current forces that are in coalition and the conservative forces. Our votes will be decisive for the progressive coalition. And we believe that we will assert our political objectives: no to austerity, yes to peace plans, no more war, yes to a social Europe, a Europe of greater effective rights for all. A Europe that fights against corruption. Work policy with thirty-two hours of equal pay per week; legal minimum wage for all and, obviously, also a European citizen’s income,” he concluded.
