The Lombardy Region, represented by the President Attilio Fontana, by the Councilor for Local Authorities and Mountains, Massimo Sertori, and by the Councilor for Security and Civil Protection, Guido Bertolaso, participated today in Bormio, in the church of Saints Gervasio and Protasio, in the funeral of the three young soldiers from the Guardia di Finanza who lost their lives in the serious accident that occurred on Wednesday 29 May in Val Masino, during an alpine rescue exercise on a rock face.
Condolences
“I express, on behalf of the Regional Council and all the people of Lombardy, deep condolences and closeness to the families of these three young soldiers – said the governor – their disappearance represents a tragic event that strikes at the heart and deeply saddens the entire community of Lombardy”.
“The tragedy that occurred in Val Masino – underlined the Councilor for Security and Civil Protection – affects us all deeply. The loss of these three young soldiers reminds us once again of the tireless commitment of all the Alpine Rescue operators, who they put their lives at risk in inaccessible places to save the lives of others, even in the most extreme conditions.”
