The extraordinary run of Giardini Margherita ends against 4 Torri Ferrara (23-10 season result), who raise the white flag in the semi-final of the ‘Romagna’ group of Regional Division 1 and say goodbye to the chances for a place in Serie C: the final will be Argenta-4 Torri. High intensity legs in the first laps of the clock, with the Bianchi granata (10 points in the first quarter) pressing on the accelerator for the 11-17 which the ‘Gardens’, immediately in bonus, seem to suffer especially in the calculation of rebounds. Baccarini and Elio clear the cobwebs after much fasting, before Bisi’s free throws bring the Bolognese back to -2. At the beginning of the second quarter the dust was very wet for over 4′, with Gavagna signing the +7 from Estense and with Bologna managing to break the deadlock with Artese, but struggling in the defensive thicket of their opponents. Triple by Ghirelli, reply by Elio: the blue and whites remain in the wake, but the sudden blitz of the Caselli-Pusinanti tandem gives the shoulder close to the siren. At this point the Giardini change tone at the start of the second half, with Baccarini, Artese and Trazzi raising the revs, stretching the defense and closing the gap to -2, getting back on track with the match. Thus, after a chase that lasted 33′, it was Argenti who put the basket against the glass which gave ‘Gardens’ the first advantage (47-45), who tried to make the final charge. Triple and recovery by Verrigni, counterattack by Bianchi and Ferrara reverses the inertia again, forcing coach Lanzi to time out (47-52), with 4 laps of the clock still to play. Two technical protests imposed on Nanni and Minghetti for protests inflame the final and the Granata take advantage of it in small steps to reach +5. Fabbri scores -3, misses the equalizing triple and then Beccari’s triple closes the score with 34″ to go.
