Meeting in Lecce. Duse-Deledda for Duse 100 Committee (Mic). With Annarita Miglietta and Pierfranco Bruni

Eleonora Duse and Grazia Deledda. Appointment in Lecce promoted by Duse 100 Committee: the Divine in a dialogue between Annarita Migliettaprofessor at the University of Salento e Pierfranco BruniCommittee coordination member and manager Undulna Duse Project.

To this latest literary work edited by Franca De Santis for Solfanelli publisher, Annarita Miglietta contributed an important essay.

The works will be introduced by Roberto Fatano, president Laica culture and moderated by Vittorio Trullo.
Eleonora Duse, a point of reference also in the tradition of stage costume between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, will be at the center of an evening dedicated to theater and literature between scientificity and promotion. The meeting is set for Monday 3 June at 6.00 pm, in the Sala Marinetti di Lauca in via Cesare Abba, 46.

In line with the hermeneutic spirit from which the Duse Committee emanates, the main themes of the evening will above all concern the role played by Eleonora Duse with literature and in particular with Grazia Deleddawith which Divina had established an important bond, so much so that she became the leading actress in the film “Cenere” based on the novel by the Sardinian writer.
This is the only film that Duse made after reading Deledda’s novel. The drama of her scenes takes her back to her first love Martino Cafiero, met in Matilde Serao’s living room in Naples and with whom he had a son, who died soon after. The drama of Eleonora as a woman and mother emerges particularly from the final scene. A poignant image of the pain of a mother holding her dead son in her arms.
The character embodied by Eleonora Duse crossed by a suffering drama once again reveals the profound sense of pain on the stage of an actress who involved her own existence in her own life.
