Cobas Private Work – Coordination of railway workers andNational Assembly of Infrastructure Maintenance Workers RFIthey confirmed for the June 3, 2024it national strike of the workers of maintenance sector lasting this time 24 hours.

The motivation lies in the fact that RFI intends reschedule the service – currently based on five working days and a single day shift – from next June onwards, on an entire working week and all 24 hours.

This would have consequences on the organization and lives of RFI staff, as underlined in an announcement by the FISI union, which is joining the protest.

The protests concerning RFI infrastructure maintenance staff affect various parts of Italy. In particular: Trieste, Turin, Verona, Pescara, Foligno, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Bologna, Florence, Ancona (Marche-Umbria) and Abruzzo.

Travelers who intend to cancel the trip can request a refund starting from the declaration of strike: up to the departure time of the booked train, for Intercity and Frecce trains; until midnight of the day before the strike itself, for Regional trains, alternatively they can reschedule the journey, under similar transport conditions, as soon as possible, depending on seat availability.

Minimum services guaranteed in case of strike. On strike days, Trenitalia ensures minimum transport services, arranged following agreements with the trade unions, deemed suitable by the Guarantee Commission for the implementation of Law 146/1990. Since unforeseeable changes may occur during a strike (e.g. change of itinerary for long-distance trains), it is important to pay attention to the press releases released in stations and by the media. Trains that are traveling after the strike has started still arrive at their final destination if it can be reached within an hour of the start of the trade union agitation; after this period, trains can stop in stations preceding the final destination.
