CATANIA – The Catania police flying squad arrested a twenty-eight-year-old Nigerian for sexual assault and aggravated injuries. The facts date back to the night of last June 3, when the officers, following a report, intervened in a commercial business near the port where a woman with several bleeding wounds had just taken refuge after having suffered an attack. Due to the trauma reported, the victim was taken by 118 ambulance to the emergency room where she was given a 15-day prognosis.
The victim, who usually stays on the road near the port, said that she was initially approached by a black man, clearly in a state of intoxication, who arrived on board an electric scooter and subsequently refused to comply with a paid sexual performance, she was first threatened with a piece of wood in her hand, used like a knife, and then attacked with unprecedented violence. To escape the eyes of any passers-by who might have raised the alarm, the stranger forcibly dragged the victim to a nearby dead-end street and here, after stunning her with slaps and punches and then continuously hitting her on the head with a large stone. and a plastic pipe collected on the ground, he committed sexual violence.
Once the report was completed, the man ordered the girl to leave the place only after he had left, but not before threatening her that he would shoot her if she ever went to the police. Having acquired the first information, a police squad went to the scene of the violence, finding and seizing some blood-soaked clothing, as well as the objects used by the foreigner to beat the woman. Thanks to the viewing of the videos recorded by the video surveillance systems present in the area, the investigators reconstructed the route taken by the man on board the electric scooter before attacking the woman.
A foreigner corresponding to the descriptions provided was then identified, finding him in possession of a singular plastic necklace with a cross, completely similar to the one previously described by the victim. Furthermore, during a house search inside a makeshift accommodation used by the foreigner, men’s trousers soaked in blood and attributable to the brutal action were found. Faced with the danger that he could flee from Sicily, effectively making himself untraceable, the man was arrested and taken to prison.
