handcrafted knives in Romano di Lombardia

On the weekend between 25 and 26 May 2024 Romano di Lombardia hosted the twenty-fourth edition of Lame sotto i portici, a market exhibition of artisan knives which has now reached its 24th edition and which sails confidently towards the jubilee. Organized to raise funds from the local AVIS chapter, the Bergamo exhibition has grown constantly in terms of attendance and quality of the blades on display, with particular attention to forged knives and damascus. This is thanks to the very particular location, where the exhibitors’ stalls are located under the medieval porticoes of via Colleoni, which once housed the market, while on the square where the street emerges we find the forges and anvils of the forgers, engaged in frequent demonstrations ” hot” of their ability to work steel and damask.

Even this year the number of cutlers who participated in the event was very high, with a good alternation between veterans of the Bergamo exhibition and newcomers. The level of knives on display was however very high and as usual the criterion with which we shot our clips was to show both recurring faces and newcomers. This year we were joined in Romano by a small team of friends who helped us choose the knives to show you: Tommaso Rumici, Marco Difesatto (of Coltelleria Scintilla in Treviso) and Massimo Semenzin. We leave you to watch our filmed story of Lame sotto i portici 2024, where more than twenty artisans quickly show us their knives, and we invite you now to mark on your calendar that the next edition, barring unforeseen changes, will take place in last weekend of May 2025. See you next time!
