During an extraordinary territorial control service, coordinated by the Public Security Commissioner “Central”, the police officers, together with the anti-drug canine units of the UPGSP, arrested a 32-year-old Senegalese man for possession for the purposes of dealing of narcotic substances.
The control activity is aimed at intensifying the action of repression of the activity of drug dealing within the San Berillo district, at different times compared to previous controls, in order to grasp the weak points of the subjects dedicated to this illegal practice.
The service also saw the use of a Carabinieri Battalion which guaranteed a security framework, creating a perimeter around the State Police agents working within the district.
After having closed the escape routes, i.e. via Reggio, via Pistone and via delle Finanze, the police arrived from via Buda with the drug-sniffing dog Maui on their head and at the sight of the dog unit, a man got rid of various wrappers, extracting them from the pouch worn over the shoulder, throwing them on the ground, after which his attempt to remove them was thwarted by the effective belting.
At that point, two blocks of hashish were promptly recovered, one of which bearing the well-known Nutella brand and another with the writing “Donna”, each weighing 83 and 90 grams. In addition to this, two wrappers containing a total of 45 grams of marijuana were also seized from him. Inside the pouch, he held the same 14 wraps of crack weighing 2.74 grams and the sum of 47 euros, proceeds from the drug dealing activity.
Initially the man attempted to deny having disposed of what he recovered on the ground, only to then change his attitude following what was found during a house search which confirmed the police action and nailed him down to his responsibilities.
In the bathroom, in fact, the Maui dog’s nose was attracted by the presence of four blocks of hashish, externally identical in size and packaging to those he had disposed of, just as the brands shown on the outside provided that unmistakable element paternity in the hands of the subject. Inside a bin, a bag containing 450 grams of marijuana was discovered, as well as tinfoil, an electronic scale and an electronic scale for weighing the narcotic substance, as well as two knives. The material found was duly seized.
Finally, inside the car owned by the man, a machete with a total length of 47 cm and a blade of 25 cm was found, appropriately seizedwhich is why the subject was reported in a state of freedom for illegal possession of a weapon.
In light of all of the above, the 32-year-old Senegalese with no criminal record, regular on the national territory, was taken first to the offices of the Scientific Police for the appropriate checks and then to the “Central” police station where he was declared under arrest for detention for the purposes of of dealing in narcotic substances. Having informed the Deputy Prosecutor on duty, he arranged for him to be placed in the prison in Piazza Lanza at the disposal of the Judicial Authority.
The overall service conducted in San Berillo also led to the discovery of other quantities of narcotic substances, while others were hidden and ready to be sold if necessary, as in the case of the marijuana wrapper weighing 16 grams, hidden under a wooden bench, in via Carro, discovered thanks to the help of the drug-sniffing dog.
A more meticulous and scrupulous search, under a manhole on the corner between Via Buda and Via Pistone, revealed a cellophane bag containing 101 grams of narcotic substance of the marijuana type as well as 1 precision scale, all seized from unknown persons.
The extraordinary control services will also continue in order to act as a deterrent to those types of crimes, such as cell phone robberies and thefts of even small sums of money left inside parked cars; the proceeds of such crimes often serve to fuel the sale of narcotics for the purposes of dealing or even for consumption alone.
