He raised 5,000 euros on parterre de roi of eight chefs (including five starred chefs) who were the protagonist of the premiere yesterday Italian Chef Charity Night Umbria, the charity event born in Florence following the Amatrice earthquake as an opportunity to raise funds for post-earthquake reconstruction. For the first time the solidarity event has arrived in Umbria and brought together in one place eight of the most appreciated protagonists of Umbrian fine dining: the Umbrian Michelin stars met at the Carducci Gardens Andrea Impero (Borgobrufa Elements), Ada Stifani (Ada Gourmet), Giulio Gigli (One), Marco Lagrimino (The Anchovy) and the Tuscan Francesco Nunziata (Fighine Castle), as well as Paolo Trippini (Trippini), Enrico Pistoletti (Aldivino) e Gabriele Mattiacci (The Oil Mill). The proceeds from the initiative – which arrives in Perugia after the success of the first edition of the Forchettiere Awards Umbria 2024, which involved numerous Umbrian restaurants – will go to support the activities ofSeraphic Institute of Assisi.
“Despite the risk of bad weather” explains the organizer Marco Gemelli,”the response of the city of Perugia lived up to expectations, as did the generosity of the chefs who made their time, raw materials and staff available for a noble cause. The event was a success and the appointment with the Italian Chef Charity Night is for next year”. In addition to the dishes of the eight chefs, the almost 200 participants were able to taste the bread of Ancient Umbrian Grains and theDecimi oilthe wines of Colsanto Farm and the artisanal ice creams of Dulcinea. The event was created with the support of Food Service gates, House of the Uniform, Ambrogio Sanelli cutlery and the support ofUniversity of Flavors.
The event, which in the first editions took the name of Amatriciana Day because the funds raised were allocated to the relief of earthquake victims and post-earthquake reconstruction, since 2018 it has taken on its current name and every year it marries a noble cause: the proceeds of the Italia Chef Charity Night 2018 went to support the initiatives of Artemisia Anti-Violence Center and that of 2019 was used to purchase a machine for the Careggi emergency room. After the forced stop in 2020, the 2021 edition allocated the funds raised to disabled children in Livorno and to the foundation’s projects The heart melts non-profit. Finally, in 2022 it supported populations affected by war through the UN World Food Program and in 2023 the Casa Marta Foundation pediatric hospice.
