Di Meo’s team struggled at the start: the guests tried to take advantage of the numerical superiority in midfield to make themselves dangerous and showed themselves in Suma’s area with Bernardi (in the 14th and 16th minutes) and then with De Nisi ( at 18′) on the development of a corner. Excellent game from the Nerazzurri goalkeeper who closed the door on every occasion, saving the score. First opportunity for the hosts in the 24th minute with Di Rito who tried a right-footed volley, the guests took refuge in a corner. Around the half hour mark, Bisceglie took a big risk, with Fucci’s entry almost at the edge of the area: Vigor Lamezia protested, asking for a penalty. The last emotion of the first half was Pignataro’s attempt, served from the left by Bonicelli, which ended up over the crossbar.
In the second half the hosts tried to push and came close to taking the lead with Pignataro in the 9th minute, but Columbro blocked the attacker’s header. Di Meo tried to shuffle the cards, sending Fucci onto the field in place of the injured Di Rito, but that was the moment in which the guests took the lead. Short rebound following the development of a corner, low shot from Bernardi which silenced Ventura. Giovanni Foderaro devoured two opportunities to double the lead (in the 37th and 51st minutes), in between an opportunity for Lucero (47′) who anticipated the winning goal in the 54th minute: following the development of a Monaco free kick, the ball was on his feet from Suma whose shot was blocked by Columbro but landed at the feet of Pignataro, who was quick to put it back in the middle for Lucero’s winning deflection which sparked the joy of the fans in the stands.
In seven days, the opponent will be Costa D’Amalfi in the first leg of the national play-off final.
