Crime and malamovida in Cagliari, Alessandra Zedda: «Zero tolerance, immediate action»

«Zero tolerance for incidents of crime and degradation in Cagliari. We need more security». This is stated by center-right mayoral candidate Alessandra Zedda after the “wild west” night just spent in the city, where a man was stabbed to death in via Caprera and another was beaten up in via del Collegio. A situation which for Zedda is no longer sustainable, so much so that it requires theadoption «with extreme urgency of all the measures available and the implementation of others, to combat malamovida».

“Reopening the city also means making it safe” – adds the mayoral candidate, who announces a special delegation for security: «the phenomenon must be addressed in a timely and effective manner, for this reason it requires dedicated administrative action». «We will adopt the security agreement for one joint effort of administration, prefecture, law enforcement, associations, parishes: We must work together to take care of our city, our neighborhoods and our streets. We will be intransigent against degradation and insecurity and will adopt the necessary measures.” We are thinking of better street lighting, guaranteed police presence “also involving the local police of metropolitan municipalities” and the redevelopment of urban spaces.

There was no shortage of condolences for the death of Fabio Piga, the 37-year-old former carabiniere who died last night in a pub in the center after a stab wound to the chest: «I sympathize with his family, it was a senseless and tragic death. These are moments when we need to stop and reflect: these tragedies must never happen again. I also wish the young man who was robbed and beaten a speedy recovery.”
