In the evening on TMW Radio, during the programme “A Tutta C”, mister intervened Carmine Gautieri:
Did you expect anything more from Avellino this year?
“Avellino has an ambitious president who wants to win the championship and who has invested a lot. Something more was expected from the team because it had more values than the others. Now, however, it is right to give continuity with Pazienza on the bench. Avellino is a complicated place for any coach, you have to try to make as few mistakes as possible. Pazienza did well in Cerignola and has done very well since he arrived in Avellino”.
What group will Group C be next year?
“As always it is one of the most difficult groups. Benevento will want to try again, but there are other ambitious clubs, such as Avellino itself, Catania and Taranto. Catania is a very strong club and has hired an excellent coach. Let’s not forget Trapani, which has a healthy club with an ambitious president. He can aim to reach the play-offs, because when there is competent ownership we already start off on the right foot.”
Capuano hadn’t stayed on a bench for this long since his time at Arezzo. What can Taranto do with him?
“Taranto with the three-year contract in Capuano immediately made it clear the type of ambition there was. Tactically he is a superior category coach, but in Italy sometimes we only look at communication. However, I think they will make a team for an important championship, they are among the strongest teams.”
This season Alberto Dossena had an excellent season in Cagliari and is of interest to Fiorentina. How would you, who coached him in Avellino, describe him?
“You could see he had great prospects, he is a hard worker. He always stopped after training and in that time he improved a lot. I remember once, when I made a different choice for a match, he had tears in his eyes because he is a boy who cares a lot. With him, Fiorentina would make a great signing.”
