The police intervened because citizens had reported a person who, in a state of severe disturbance, was walking in the middle of the road, shouting at motorists, but when the State Police arrived, the man also turned against the police and he attacked them by kicking the window of the company car.
This is what happened a few nights ago to two agents of the Flying Squad of the Orvieto Public Security Police Station, during what was supposed to be a normal intervention like many that happen every day. The two policemen had intervened following a request from some motorists who, traveling along a street in the Sferracavallo district, had asked for the intervention of the State Police due to the presence of a young man who was shouting and wandering along a road and, endangering himself and others, walked between the cars on the two-way stretch of traffic. Once on site, given the evident state of alteration of the young man, a thirty-year-old of Albanian nationality resident in Orvieto, the officers asked him if he needed a doctor or if he wanted to be assisted by a family member to return home, but the latter refused responded with insults and aggressive attitudes and then fled into the middle of the road among the cars that were passing by at the time.
The young man was chased and caught up and was finally convinced to get into the steering wheel to go to the emergency room to be examined by a doctor. As soon as they arrived outside the emergency room, before even getting out of the police car, the young man began to rage again and from inside the vehicle he started kicking the glass of the door with such violence that break it. With great difficulty the police managed to immobilize the young man, made him get out and entrusted him to the care of doctors who ascertained that the thirty-year-old was under the influence of alcohol and narcotics.
This wild night cost the young man a complaint for resisting a public official due to his behavior towards the two policemen and one for aggravated damage due to the destruction of the glass in the door of the company car. The entire incident was the subject of a detailed report sent to the Public Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of Terni.
