The Republic Day will also be closed this year by an important opera concert which will be held within the marvelous setting of the Courtyard of the Ducal Palace of Massa. The event requested by prefect Guido Aprea was organized in collaboration with the Circolo Carrarese Friends of Opera “A. Mercurial”. Three great Verdi voices will be joined by three young talents who have already undertaken an important career which already leads them to tread the most prestigious Italian and international stages, accompanied by Maestro Cesare Goretta, specialist in accompanying opera singers. Doing the honors will be the two Apuan glories who carry the name of our cities high in the greatest theaters in the world: Giorgio Giuseppini, bass from Massa with a deep, burnished voice who, among other things, has inaugurated the season of the Teatro alla Scala several times, and Sergio Bologna, baritone from Carrara with a vast repertoire that ranges from Rossini to verismo, embracing much of Verdi and Puccini’s production which saw him as a protagonist in major Italian and foreign theaters such as Tel Aviv, Kiew, Los Angeles, Madrid, Ljubljana, Bratislava. At their side is a great colleague and friend: the mezzo-soprano Anna Maria Chiuri, who shared great successes with them and starred in memorable concerts for our audience. Oscar della Lirica Award, the prestigious International Opera Award, he is a regular guest in theaters such as La Scala, the Arena of Verona, Vienna, Berlin, Salzburg, San Carlo in Naples, just to name a few. The Japanese soprano Shoko Okada, winner of the first edition of “Marble at the Opera!” Competition she is a dramatic soprano voice suitable for the Puccini and Verdi repertoire of maturity who achieved great success at the Puccini Festival with “Madama Butterfly”. The Russian Tenor Vladimir Reutov, also winner of the first edition of the “Marmo all’Opera!” Competition it is a robust full lyric tenor voice suitable for the Verdi, Puccini and young school repertoire. For the first time in Carrara and Massa the Italian-Scottish tenor Carlo Raffaelli, ringing voice of a lyric tenor who has just finished his engagement at the Teatro Regio in Parma with “Tosca” conducted by Maestro D. Oren. With a view to the Club’s mission to enhance young talents, like last year, there will be the extraordinary participation of Davide Lena, a young pianist from Carrara who will perform a piece by Beehtoven. The evening’s program includes the most beautiful arias and duets from the best-known opera repertoire. Entrance to the concert is free upon the express wish of the prefect who wants the “Republic Day” to be attended free of charge by all the public.
