There is no peace in the Padua house. After the announcement by the Appartenenza Biancoscudata group on Friday morning at the Caffé Missaglia of a possible new stadium in Montegrotto, with the accompanying negative response from the Biancoscudata club due to a limited budget, here is another chapter which does not bode well for the future of the project: the clear and angry denial from the owners of the land in the spa town. Here is the note in this regard:
“This is in the name and on behalf of Messrs. Eugenia Bertin, Ludovico Bertin, Martina Bertin, Maria Bertin and Paolo Zanettin who, through the undersigned, intend to deny the news referring to the land they own located in Montegrotto Terme, as per the press release following:
In reference to the news that appeared yesterday on the local news, shared on social media and published in today’s newspapers, concerning the proposed construction of a stadium with an adjoining sports center in Montegrotto Terme in the Mezzavia district, the properties of the areas indicated wish to clarify that they were totally unrelated to these maneuvers, having had no contact either with the Calcio Padova spa company or even with representatives of organized support (Club Appartenenza Biancoscudata). The owners declare: “We are disarmed as well as embarrassed by the succession of these events. We do not understand the logic and intent in the dissemination of such news (press conference, mass media), moreover with the support and confirmation of the Sampietrina administration, in the absence of verification of the correctness of the sources, as well as in the absence of investigations into the effective involvement of the owners. Since these are therefore public communications burdened by this fundamental incompleteness, we believe it is now inevitable to specify how totally inconsistent this project may be.”
A clear stance taken by the Bertin family and Paolo Zanettin, which underlines the inconsistency and embarrassment of the communication given, as well as denying contacts with organized supporters and the Biancoscudata club. Speaking of the club’s future, it will be another week of waiting, the one coming, in Padova. The long-awaited meeting between the owner Oughourlian in London and the management based in Padua will take place next Friday. Only from that moment on will it be possible to understand with greater clarity the ideas, plans and developments of Padova 2024-2025: still faithful to that of the last 2 years, with the main objective of cashing in and making rich capital gains with young people, or putting again with the wallet ready to spend, always in a sustainable way, to provide whoever will lead this team next season with a roster to attempt yet another assault on Serie B? The sensations seem to lean towards a continuation of the idea of the last two years, aimed at the prudent management of the budget and corporate finances, with the supporters and the environment not convinced by the path taken.
On the technical side, everything is silent. There is little to report regarding player renewals, while as far as training is concerned the only certainty seems to be that Massimo Oddo is no longer the right man for this team. Definitely curious after having done everything to put him back in command of the Paduan sailing ship, but the contract expiring at the end of the month puts him in a waiting position. The name of Domenico Toscano, leader of Cesena’s recent promotion to Serie B and has always been a fan of Mirabelli with whom he has a great relationship, is being talked about in many quarters. It’s a shame that there is very strong pressure on him from the ambitious Catania in group C, ready for a two-year deal with decidedly very important figures. The game is still open, at the same time everything is pending at the moment. Certainly Toscano’s arrival at Euganeo would be good news for the square, provided that, at the first possible negative results, he does not become yet another lightning rod to be thrown to the fans and the environment as is happening too often to those who lead on the team field in recent years.
Better to arm yourself with patience and wait. Meanwhile, from the microphones of the Twitch and YouTube channel “Padova, Serie B we are coming”, spoke – probably – the best goalkeeper in terms of performance in group A Mattia Fortin, on loan to Legnago, but owned by Padova.
