LAWNSaturday 8th from 3pm to 11pm and Sunday 9th June from 7am to 11pm the votes will be held for the renewal of the European Parliament and the administrative elections to elect the mayor and the municipal council.

SCROLLING – For the European elections, counting will begin at 11pm on Sunday 9 June, when the polls close. While for the municipal elections the counting will take place starting from 2pm on Monday 10 June. The possible runoff which could only involve the Municipalities of Prato and Montemurlo, will take place on Sunday 23rd and Monday 24th June.

WHO ARE ENTITLED TO VOTE

For the European elections: In the Municipality of Prato, 130,471 voters are called to the polls, of which 62,407 men and 68,064 women, distributed across 179 electoral sections.

For administrative: 132,540 voters are called to vote, of which 63,486 men and 69,054 women, again distributed across 179 electoral sections.

The difference in the electoral body between European and municipal is determined by residents abroad, who appear on the municipal electoral lists as Italian citizens, but who have requested to vote in the country of residence.

HOW TO VOTE IN THE EUROPEAN ELECTIONS

The voter expresses his vote on a red ballot, with a maximum of three preferences by writing the name, surname or just the surname in the lines next to the voted list. (the name and surname are necessary in case there are homonymous candidates). In the event that multiple preferences are expressed, these must concern candidates of different sex, under penalty of cancellation of the second and third preferences. Voting with numerical indications is not permitted.

HOW TO VOTE IN MUNICIPAL OFFICES

The voter has more options: he can draw his mark only on the candidate for mayor (the vote is assigned only to the candidate for mayor). He can mark only one of the lists linked to the mayoral candidate or both the mayoral candidate and a linked list. (the vote is attributed to both the mayoral candidate and the list). He can place a mark on the mayoral candidate and a mark on a NOT connected list by expressing a split vote (vote attributed to the mayoral candidate and the unconnected list). He can express a preference by writing the surname of a candidate for the city council on the line next to the chosen list and two other candidates for councilor as long as they are of the opposite sex and belong to the same list.

DOCUMENTS NECESSARY FOR VOTING

In order to vote, the voter must show up at the polling station with a valid identification document (identity card, passport, firearms license or driving license) and with the electoral card, checking that there are spaces available for stamping.

Electoral card

The electoral card certifies the citizen’s regular registration in the electoral lists of their municipality of residence. It contains the owner’s personal data, the place of residence, the number and headquarters of the section to which the voter is assigned, the constituency and constituency to which he or she belongs in each type of election, and is valid for 18 elections.

If the electoral card is no longer usable due to running out of space or is damaged, the citizen can contact the municipal electoral office and ask for a duplicate. A duplicate can be obtained even if the card is lost or stolen.
If the interested party cannot go in person, he or she can delegate a family member or partner. The reference office is the registry office in Piazza Cardinale Niccolò n° 13. The service is also guaranteed in the decentralized offices: East District, viale Alcide De Gasperi n° 67, North District, via Sette Marzo 1944 n° 15/2, West District, via Lorenzo da Prato n° 17 and South District, via delle Badie n° 130.

The service that allows you to independently print the replacement electoral card certificate has been active since 20 May, valid only for current elections. The replacement voter card certificate, once printed, and together with the identity document, allows the voter to go directly to their polling station to vote, but is only valid for the elections to be held on 8 and 9 June.

The service can only be used via SPID/CIE/CNS and at the following link https://tesseraelettorale.comune.prato.it/

What to do in case of change of residence

Change of domicile within the same Municipality: a special label is sent to the new domicile to attach to the electoral card. If the label does not arrive in time, it can be collected from the electoral offices of your municipality.
Change of residence to another municipality: the new card is sent to the home, when the voter is registered on the electoral lists of the new municipality of residence. If the card does not arrive in time, it can be collected from the electoral offices of your municipality. The old card must be returned.

Identity document

Together with the electoral card, the voter must present an identity document issued by a public administration, even if expired, as long as it has a photo that ensures the precise identification of the voter.

Valid documents are: identity card, passport, weapons licence, driving licence, nautical licence, pension booklet, license to operate heating systems, identification cards issued by a state administration, provided they have a photograph and a stamp or other equivalent signature.

The electronic identity card (CIE) is issued by the registry office of the municipality of residence; delivery, by the Ministry of the Interior, will take place within six working days. To vote, however, it is sufficient to show up at the polling station with the receipt issued when requesting an electronic identity card.
