BOLOGNA – They started again at dawn the searches for the three boys missing yesterday afternoon in the Natisone river, in Premariacco, in the province of Udine. WHO ARE THE MISSING

The missing are Patrizia Cormos21 year old resident in Friuli, a 23 year old friend of hers of Romanian origins, Bianca Doros, and the latter’s boyfriend, a 25-year-old Romanian. The three apparently had arrived at the river by car: she was spotted on the bank a BMW with Romanian license plate. They would have arrived around 1.20pm at the Roman Bridge in Premariacco. The first alert would have been triggered as early as 1.35pm, when the driver of a municipal school bus sees them in the river and raises the alarm. The rescuers arrive at 1.50pm, but the boys are already knee-deep in water.

HOW THE TRAGEDY HAPPENED

The three boys remained stuck on a kind of gravel island, but the river level rose too quickly and they were unable to return to the bank. In the end the three boys were dragged by the flood wave. Shortly before, the three boys are seen holding each other tightly, probably in an attempt to hold on and resist the force of the water. Attempts to save them were made by firefighters (lowering a rope and also a ladder) failed.

THE RESEARCHES

The hope of finding the three boys alive is very slim, both for the extremely violent force of the river and for the freezing water in the night. They may have been stuck in some bend in the waterway. The Natisone is often subject to floods and its characteristic is precisely that of filling up very quickly. But then the water drops just as quickly. Which is why the boys’ bodies will probably be found.
