CATANIA – The musical “Hairspray: Grasso è bello” was a great success at the Teatro Ambasciatori in Catania on May 30th! Set in the 1960s, the show addresses the acceptance of differences and the bullying.
The story revolves around Tracyone lass overweight who dreams of dancing on a TV show in Baltimore. The musical debuted in Broadway in 2002, winning eight Tony Awards.
It’s wonderful to see how the show has involved 45 students from the Cavour Comprehensive Instituteled by professors Arena Angela and Massimiliano Giusto, with sets designed by 25 other students under the guidance of professors Stefania Marletta and Francesca Restuccia in collaboration with the Academy of Fine Arts.
L’inclusion of shy and difficult pupils it’s a big step forwardand the continuous open stage applause is a sign of how much the audience appreciated their work.
“A performance Really touching“, says the Director Prof. Maria Gabriella Capodicasawho also expressed an enthusiastic comment, and underlined that the commitment of the students and professors in putting on the show was truly admirable.
Their dedication And inclusion of shy and struggling students I am a positive example for the whole school.
The theater has the advantage of doing the potential of each of them emerges and allows its maximum expression.
Within a frame of colors and lights the children performed with songs, dances and excellent acting, receiving approval from an audience full of spectators including parents, teachers, classmates and guests.
