Cafè Zemian Artisans of the word in the square

‘Café Zemian’. The name itself recalls Modena. The new initiative launched by the Modena Amore Mio association starts from this concept. The full title is Cafè Zemian-Gemini literary café or prophets in the homeland.

A series of five evenings, on the four Tuesdays of June and on the first Tuesday of July, a calendar of ten meetings (8.30pm and 9.30pm) in the setting of Piazza XX Settembre with ten authors from Modena who will dialogue with as many journalists from the city. Ten book shows, not only literature, but also some excerpts from the books recited by the Zona Tempio actors accompanied by the music of the students of the Vecchi-Tonelli institute. The evenings will be opened by the theme song Modna, the song by Luca Frigieri. For the participating public there will be a precious gift at each meeting, a total of ten artistic postcards will be distributed with photos of the evocative views of the historic center taken by Diego Poluzzi and Stefano Selmi of Art Design. Cafè Zemian has the patronage of the municipality of Modena and the support of Banco Bpm: “This is a new proposal – says the director of Modena Amore Mio Angelo Giovannini – which aims to introduce and meet excellences of our land in the fields of intellect. I I am referring to literature, journalism, music and acting. All elements that are part of the history of our city. In this exhibition, crime writers, novelists, essayists, poets and storytellers will find space.

We start on June 4th with L’ultimo Zibaldone by Beppe Zagaglia, who told the story of Modena with his camera and pen (he will talk with the Resto del Carlino journalist, culture expert, Stefano Marchetti); followed by the protagonist the poet Gabriele D’Annunzio, through the meticulous and original work of Luca Bonacini and Enrico Di Carlo, authors of the beautiful essay ‘The toast of the teetotal poet’ (Verdone editore).

On June 11th, La casa in città by Berto Gavioli and Memories of a Mosquito Hunter written by Carlo Gregori will be presented. On June 18th Elisa Cattini will present her Anita tra le stelle, at 9.30 pm it will be Carlo Bertoli’s turn with Il tempo delle diet-chronicle of an impossible martyrdom. The evening of June 25th will open with Anime salve by the former Modena FC doctor Francesco Sala; at 9.30pm Stefano Ferrari and Miria Burani will talk about Pasolini and Marzabotto – the price to pay. The exhibition will close on 2 July with G for Goodman written by Massimiliano Milano and Antonio Montefusco, during the event some paintings by Milano himself will be exhibited. To close the calendar there is Women asking for justice by Luigi Guicciardi.
