On May 30th in L’Aquila the conference on the themes of living at the CGIL Auditorium

L’AQUILA – The Sunia Abruzzo Molise, the CGIL L’Aquila and the Coordination of Tenants ERP intend to start a reflection on the issues of living and on the problems relating to the management of the public building heritage to relaunch in the L’Aquila territory “a broad and specific dispute home”.

“The objective – declare Francesco Marrelli (CGIL), Geppino Oleandro (SUNIA) and Antonio Perrotti (ERP Coord.) – is to overcome the many emergency deviations that have produced self-referential, often clientelistic attitudes and which have involved all the bodies at various levels ”.

“We want to start from the bottom and, together with the tenants, we intend to build a participatory, shared platform open to the contribution of those in the City who want to put the quality of living back at the center of the public discussion as a determinant for the relaunch of the economy of the L’Aquila area” .

“All this becomes urgent as it is now clear to everyone that:

· the current dispersion of settlements is configuring unsustainable costs for families and for the Municipality itself;

· the maintenance and management costs of the CASE Plan continue to grow, especially to the detriment of tenants and their families;

· there have been major delays in the reconstruction of ERP housing;

· an organic vision of the various complementary housing problems is missing.

We need to start from explaining the users’ problems by giving voice to the tenants in the various housing situations to build socially valid and practicable articulated responses”.

For this reason, on the morning of May 30th the “CAROVAN OF RIGHTS” of the CGIL and SUNIA meets the tenants of the ERP housing in San Gregorio, Valle Pretara, Pettino and Sassa.

“It is an opportunity to carry out an in-depth survey of the problems with the aim of listening, discussing and supporting the disputes and problems of people who experience the contradictions of choices that have not taken their needs into account”.

At 3.30 pm on Thursday 30 May at the CGIL Auditorium in Via Saragat the floor will be given to the tenants of the above-mentioned hamlets to support and share some proposals which will be illustrated by Antonio Perrotti of the ERP tenants’ coordination as well as representative of Sunia Aquilano.

Following this, a round table will be organized whose work will be opened by the regional general secretary of Sunia Geppino Oleandro and will see the participation of the general secretaries of the CGIL Aquilana Francesco Marrelli and of the regional CGIL Abruzzo Molise Carmine Ranieri, as well as the person responsible for housing policies of the National CGIL Laura Mariani who will have the opportunity to meet with the President of ATER, lawyer. Isidoro Isidori, the President of ANCE L’Aquilana, Gianni Frattale, and the Councilor of the Regional Council, Dr. Mario Quaglieri.

The UDU and UDS student associations, the regional and municipal council groups and the Mayor of the city were invited to participate. The work will be concluded by the General Secretary of the national SUNIA Stefano Chiappelli who will participate in the Caravan of Rights route from the morning. The regional secretary of the CGIL Federica Benedetti coordinated the work of the Round Table.

Theme of comparison “FOR A STRATEGIC PLAN FOR LIVING IN THE L’Aquila area”. A plan that must be capable of:

· choose which cores of the CASE and MAP Plan to keep;

· accelerate the reconstruction of appropriately technologized ERP housing;

· outline the use of the many public containers in a logic of efficient cost/benefit ratio;

· also list possible strategic new housing and/or management interventions;

· include all the complex solutions in an organic, participatory and shared variant of the Plan.

The organizers hope that a truly democratic and participatory discussion will open on these issues, with all the institutional levels involved.
