A goal in each half against Milazzo and Modica gets through to the play-off finals of the Championship of Excellence. It can be said that the local rossoblu played the perfect match, in front of an audience that packed the “Vincenzo Barone” like never before (a couple of hundred guests). Modica’s lead came in the 20th minute with a surgical free kick from the left by Azzara which he placed directly behind the Mamertino goalkeeper. Modica never risked and even tried in every way to double the score in the second half. Milazzo tried in the 63rd minute with a free kick from the edge of the area by former Natale Gatto which grazed the crossbar. In the 79th minute, the locals scored their second goal thanks to a recovery of the ball in midfield which generated Azzara’s throw for Cacciola, who appeared in front of the goalkeeper and beat him. Therefore, Milazzo’s adventure ends, while the season continues for Modica with the national play-off phase for the D which will see them involved in the double comparison with Aurora Alto Casertano. For Mr. Antonio Venuto’s men (suspended), who performed well today too, remain satisfied with having played an excellent second part of the season which could form the foundations for a much more ambitious next tournament.

Modica will play the first leg away from home on June 2nd while the return match will be played the following Sunday.
