Over 100 middle school students in sports lessons. A courageous and winning choice yesterday morning by the Pro Loco of Borello, which brought together a series of small, great sporting stories from our territory at the parish theatre.

The silence and attention of the children and the applause for the speeches were the best reward for the organizers. Young people are a sincere and ruthless audience: if they get bored they will let you know, instead they have returned home with many important words.

Running and fighting

After Dean Lucchi’s introduction on the importance of sport, Martina Facciani, multiple Italian marathon champion, opened the proceedings: «The whole marathon is a long journey towards self-knowledge. During the race you are immersed in what you have to do, you can’t get lost in your imagination thinking about something else.”

Boxing and martial arts master Igor Ronchi passionately spoke about his way of experiencing sport: «If you learn the rules by doing sport, you accept them better in life too. I had messages where the bad guy wins and the evil and the clever prevail, then at a certain point I discovered the charm of good. The charm of good is seeing that everyone can feel different, unique and unrepeatable and good can be found in sport.”

Loris’s tale

As expected, the story of the Paralympic champion Loris Cappanna was moving: «After the duathlon and the triathlon, now I’m trying my hand at the rifle. Initially when it was proposed to me I was a bit confused, but instead it’s a beautiful new adventure that I’m facing. When I became blind, it was initially difficult: it took me a complex journey on a mental level. Bad luck was very good for me, but I had the strength to get back into the game.”

Andrea Docimo talked about the charm of horse riding: «You create a magical relationship with the horse, it is a sport that offers great satisfaction and great emotions».

Football and applause

Tommaso Arrigoni from Borella plays in Serie B in Sudtirol: «I have always wanted to be a footballer and vigorously pursued my dream. Many told me I was too short, but I never gave up.” Final with Alessandro Giovannini, talent from Cesena newly promoted to Serie B: «When I was 2 years old, my parents bought me a season ticket for Curva and that’s where my passion was born. Now my dream is to play in Serie A with Cesena.”
