MARTINSICURO. The works for the construction of the cycle-pedestrian bridge over the Tronto river, contracted by the Marche Region and half financed by the Abruzzo Region, should begin between the end of June and the beginning of July. The work was entrusted in the first week of April to a Sicilian company which could also subcontract the construction.
Meanwhile, the Municipality of Martinsicuro is pressing the deadline to connect the town’s current cycle/pedestrian path with what will be the southern access ramp to the bridge. Once work has been completed on the new stretch of the town’s northern seafront, underway from the intersection with Via del Mare to the landing area, work should begin immediately to connect the entrance to the future bridge. The extension of the track will start close to the wall that runs along the mouth of the river and then extend for about 150 meters onto the Tronto River, the nature walk created a few years ago by the Martinsicuro.zero association which also takes care of its maintenance. There have been prescriptions from the Superintendency to preserve the existing habitat. The cycle path must be as uniform as possible with the appearance that the existing route has already taken on, therefore not bright green but opaque in colour, in order to mitigate the visual impact. Furthermore, the route planned on the Tronto embankment must respect the existing path in terms of width and shape, accompanying any sinuosities of the natural route; Furthermore, the material used to obtain the stabilized earth track must be agreed upon with the Superintendency during construction, in order to share a superficial color in harmony with the landscape context. During the construction of the track at the embankment, the existing riparian vegetation (reed beds and bushes) must not be altered in any way, avoiding any interference.
