Sunday May 26, 2024 is announced the Constituent Assembly of the political-cultural Association “Hands off the Mayors”a body officially born last November 28, with the aim of promoting the remodulation of the legislation on the dissolution of local administrations due to alleged mafia infiltration, currently regulated in the articles by 143 to 146 of the unique text of local authorities.
The Associationwhich they have already joined further 50 local administrators was established with the aim of raising awareness among the highest European, national and local institutions regarding the ineffectiveness and critical issues produced by the application of legislation whose distorted effects, for over a decade, have been denounced unanimously at all levels (political, judicial and institutional).
The dissolution of Municipal administrations freely elected suspends democracy, offends entire communities, produces conditions of social hardship, generating disorder and administrative inefficiency. These conditions which, on the one hand, discourage honest and service-minded citizens from taking on government roles in local authorities and, on the other, only increase the power of the mafia in terms of social consensus.
L’“Hands off the mayors” Association intends to commit to a reform of the current regulatory system, in order to bring it back into the framework of the fundamental Constitutional principles and, at the same time, make it effective in terms of combating organized crime and mafia infiltration in the Public Administration.
The National Assembly will take place atHotel del Torrione in Reggio Calabria starting from 10 am and during it the Board of Directors will be appointed, the tasks of the elected bodies will be defined, as well as the Association Regulations will be decided upon; but above all it will be an opportunity to start working in order to give concreteness and implementation to those values inspired by the principles of democracy, legality and fight against the mafia which constitute the social purpose of the association.
