RIMINI. The Riminifiera station has a future as a mobility hub serving the city of Rimini, including the new A14 motorway toll booth, expansion of regional stops, extension of the Metromare and new parking facilities. The councilor for Roads and Urban Planning Roberta Frisoni spoke about it this morning in the commission, answering the questions of the minority regarding the resolutions for the expansion, temporary or otherwise, of the Fair. On the new A14 toll booth, you explain without being able to provide specific elements on the design, the administration is awaiting the response to the request for a meeting made with the Region at Autostrade per l’Italia to explore the proposal on the table together with the Italian exhibition group . However, he specifies, the topic is being discussed thanks to a specific observation by the Municipality which was included in the Regional Transport Plan, Prit. With the trade fair company born from the merger between Rimini and Vicenza, “more than interested” in the issue, continues the councilor, work was done to “sketch a preliminary project and understand the feasibility of the work”, which “is not trivial” providing, in addition to the toll booth, a direct connection with the western entrance to the exhibition centre. Also for the variant to State Road 16, adds Frisoni, observations were presented by the Municipality to request that the exit junction connect to the western entrance. In short, “we act in all locations to improve accessibility to the fair from the west side”, where the road infrastructure is already present, and “not just on roads”, which is in any case “the first objective”.

The extension of the Metromare will bring an additional stop on the west side for the fair and the aim is to strengthen the railway service by making the regional trains stop not only on the occasion of large fairs. Hence the future transformation of the airport into a mobility hub, “with an important parking system, including a public one”, between the agreement already in place with Ieg and the stalls arriving with the temporary pavilion to the east and followed by the large “dome” to the west, at ground level or in multi-storey structures.
