On-call buses in Treviso, testing begins from 14 June

It starts in June testing of on-call buses in the Municipality of Treviso. The service will be launched on an experimental basis from June 14th to September 7th on the days of Friday and Saturday, from 8.30pm to midnight, with a margin of flexibility in the end time of service.

The proposal developed by MOMthe local public transport company, responds to the need to reform the urban transport service and reduce car traffic, specifically also to provide a service that does not exist today given that Treviso’s urban transport lines end their journeys at 8pm :30.

The on demand service will make use of a specific app and, for those who are not familiar with IT tools, a telephone number: 0422 588611. Both the app and the number will be activated in June with the launch of the service.

By accessing the App or calling, users will be able to request transportation up to 30 minutes before the requested time. At the appointment, let’s call it that, set with the MOM, a person will arrive 8 meter minibus which will load the user who has booked the transport, unloading him at the stop closest to the point where he asked to arrive. «The on-call service is one of the objectives of our sustainable mobility plan», underlined the Treviso mobility councilor Andrea De Checchi, «We think that it serves to optimize the service, it provides answers to those who work, but also to tourists who they frequent the city in the evening.”

The on-call bus project does will also develop in Villorba and Vittorio Veneto, explained the president of the Province of Treviso Stefano Marcon: «In the two municipalities, however, the service will be active during the day and not in the evening, on weekdays, to reduce empty bus journeys».
