A comedy for the children of pediatric oncohematology at the Santissima Annunziata hospital in Taranto.

It will be donated to the young patients in the department managed by the doctor Valerio Cecinati the proceeds of the show “I’m not paying you”, which will be brought to the stage on 23 and 24 May to the Fusco municipal theater of Taranto. The fundraising will take place throughAgtoeparents’ association of Taranto oncohematology chaired by Floriano Dandolo.

The characters of the comedy in three acts by Eduardo de Filippo, directed by Felicia Salinari, will come to life thanks to the non-professional actors of the theater company ofRenato Moro comprehensive institute in Taranto, “The Out of Class… class at its best”.

Curtain at 8.30 pm, with entry from 8pm for both Thursday and Friday evenings.

The comedy will retrace the daring and funny adventures of Ferdinando Quagliuolo, manager of a lottery bank inherited from his father, and an avid gambler who is always a loser, and his employee Mario Bertolini who, on the contrary, always wins. The tension between the two will explode when Bertolini makes quadruplets with the numbers suggested in a dream by Quagliuolo’s dead father. The latter will claim the winnings convinced that his father wanted to give those numbers to him and not to Bertolini, but that he would have been misled by his son’s transfer. To prove it, Quagliuolo will also be willing to take legal action, but not before having launched a terrible curse against Bertolini.

It was 1940 when this play was performed for the first time. “Since then – explains the director, Felicia Salinari – society has changed, it has evolved, there have been revolutions in all sectors, but the typical characteristics of the characters told by Eduardo de Filippo, their way of behaving and their beliefs are still well rooted in today’s humanity, so witty in many ways, but still naive enough to wait for a stroke of luck that brings about a better future. In short, the temptation of “easy winning” which often leads to persistence towards gambling, to the point of gambling addiction. This is why, by bringing “Non ti pago” to the stage, in addition to wanting to primarily entertain our audience by contributing to a good cause through donation, we also want to send an important message. And that is that in life, commitment and sacrifice are the only path to success and economic stability, even if – it is undeniable – a bit of luck doesn’t hurt. But as long as there’s a pinch left.”

“We support all the initiatives of our theater company with great pleasure – he declares Loredana Bucci, head teacher of the Ic Moro of Taranto – because they are the result of work and passion on the part of a large group of teachers, parents and students, current and former, and even grandparents, who share with us the ideals of the Without Backpack, a model in which we believe above all because it offers us the possibility to create a cohesive and dynamic community, which works in unison for the good of the school population and to support our territory. This year, the choice to donate the funds raised to the pediatric oncohematology department takes on an even more important meaning because our comedy will be staged on the eve of the first World Children’s Day, organized by the Vatican, which will be celebrated on Saturday 25 May and Sunday 26 May”.
