The provincial legislative strategy on education was presented. The event was held today in Trento at the Region’s Representative Hall. After the planning meeting of 10 May, in which the councilors presented their provincial strategy for the 17th legislature, the vice-president and councilor for education wanted to meet, this morning, the school and training management, the representatives of the Council of the provincial education system, of the provincial council of parents and students for the illustration of the legislature’s strategies on education and for the presentation of the newly established technical scientific committee of IPRASE. Present at the meeting were the general manager of the Education and Culture Department Francesca Mussino, the director of IPRASE Luciano Covi and the president of the institute’s Scientific Technical Committee, Angelo Paletta and the other four members via video link.

There are 5 strategic areas for an inclusive, professionalising, plurilingual and citizenship school identified in the programmatic session of 10 May and with respect to which the vice-president and councilor for education illustrated the content and objectives today to the components of the school system.

The objectives were identified with the aim of providing schools in Trentino with all the tools to better prepare students for the challenges of a constantly evolving world. The strategy aims first of all to encourage the growth of schools that are increasingly connected with the reference community and, in particular, with the economic and productive fabric, through the reform of the professional training chain, in order to bring it closer to the job market which changes quickly, but at the same time keeps children in school, foreseeing the launch of the ITS Academy in Trentino. The new school-work alternation model of high schools and technical institutes will be put into operation.

A second objective concerns education in digital citizenship, respect for oneself and others. A fundamental objective that the vice president immediately brought to her attention, and which will have to be pursued through the implementation of projects aimed at educating on the issues of digital citizenship and respect. Digital citizenship must be understood not only as knowledge of new technologies and their potential, but also as correct and balanced use of the technologies themselves, regulating the use of digital platforms, encouraging their correct use at an educational level, also for the purpose of guarantee a fair balance with the private dimension.

Great importance is also given to the third objective which concerns the strengthening of the multilingual skills of students and teachers of all school levels, in the belief that the promotion and protection of the cultural, economic and social identity of Trentino are necessarily supported also through the development of knowledge and capacity for dialogue at a European and global level.

A fourth objective concerns the creation of an integrated system of education and training services aimed at the population group from 0 to 6 years, through the activation of a suitable number of “zero-six” contexts, i.e. integrated systems of education services education and instruction aimed, jointly, at children from zero to six years old. This objective can be achieved in particular through the structural collaboration of all the subjects, institutional and otherwise, responsible for the management of services and schools and which contributes to the assumption of all the necessary elements to then lead to the legislative definition of the regulation of the system 0-6, with priority given to pedagogical aspects.

Finally, an objective that cuts across the department responsible for public works and which concerns school buildings: a medium-long term objective, which has the aim of enhancing school buildings with a view to greater functionality, liveability and energy sustainability , but also through a modern idea of ​​designing spaces for teaching, and increasingly inclusive school environments.

The Vice President wanted to underline that the choice of the experts of the IPRASE technical-scientific Committee was made in coherence with the legislative strategy, to guarantee scientific oversight of the different areas of interest and attention. The topics of careers, teacher training, youth well-being and disadvantage, NEETs, the assessment of skills and learning, disconnection, multilingualism and the school-work transition will be more than adequately covered.

Local meetings will follow in the coming months with all the teachers that the vice president will involve in the discussion, as they are fundamental players in the school. The strategy will also be presented shortly to the trade union organizations representing the sector.
