The decision was communicated by the president of the company Nello Renzullo who explained the reasons for the decision in a long letter. Virtus Arechi, which played its home matches at the PalaLongo in Capriglia di Pellezzano, has just returned from relegation from B d’Eccellenza to its fourth national championship. This is part of the text of the letter from the president of Virtus Arechi Nello Renzullo.

Dear friends and enthusiasts, today I find myself here with an announcement that I never wanted to make. After many painful reflections, it is with great regret that I announce the withdrawal of Virtus Arechi Salerno. This decision was not made lightly. We carefully examined every possible option to continue but ultimately had to recognize that the current circumstances prevent us from moving forward. The logistical difficulties and other insurmountable obstacles have made it impossible to keep the team active”, wrote the president of Virtus Arechi Nello Renzulli in a long letter who then expressed his appreciation to “all those who have been part of this long and important adventure , to all those senior and under athletes who in recent years have given their all in every match demonstrating not only talent, but also dedication and passion, to the technical and non-technical staff who have worked tirelessly behind the scenes to support the team in every way possible , and, above all, to our extraordinary fans. Your energy, enthusiasm and support were the driving force that made this possible…. Although today marks the end of an important chapter, I want to believe that our journey does not end here. The Salerno fans have shown extraordinary strength and cohesion and I am confident that one day, when the right conditions are right, we will find a way to be reborn. Basketball has had a special place in my heart for more than 50 years and will continue to do so. Thank you all for making these years so memorable. Thank you all and see you soon. With affection and gratitude Nello Renzullo”.
