AREZZO – The Chimera Swimming highlighted in long distances. A group of swimmers from Arezzo took to the pool in Livorno in the first summer qualifying test for the Regional Cross-Country Championship and, compared with opponents from twenty-one clubs from all over Tuscany, they put themselves to the test in a race that required a combination of character, resistance and technique. The best placing bears the signature of Gabriele Gambini from 2005 who took third place in the 800 freestyle with a time of 8’37.80 minutes, but Gaia Burzi from 2007 was also positive with the seventh time in the 1500 freestyle and 400 medley.

Four athletes from Chimera Nuoto, in the meantime, experienced a long journey to participate in the seventh edition of the “City of Naples” Grand Prix, an international event which also brought together athletes from the Italian national team and the sports groups of Impero, Fiamme in the Campania capital Gold and Carabinieri. This exceptional context constituted an important stage in preparation for the next Regional Youth Summer Championships and, among the protagonists, Margherita Mattioli from 2011 returned and experienced the great joy of accessing the youth final and getting on the podium, winning the silver medal in the 100 dolphin in the Girls category, then embellishing her participation in the event with two fourth places in the 100 freestyle and the 200 dolphin, and with a fifth place in the 200 freestyle. The Grand Prix also gave satisfaction to Sofia Donati of 2007 who finished the 50m backstroke in fifth place and the 100m backstroke in sixth place among the Women, while her peer Gabriele Mealli finished in sixth place in the 100m freestyle final and then filed the 400 freestyle in ninth place among the Men. The Arezzo team, accompanied by coach Marco Licastro, then fielded Fabio Ferrari from 2006 who competed in the 100 backstroke, 200 backstroke, 100 butterfly and 200 butterfly.
