“I want to go and live in Australia” is a comedy that offers a glimpse of family life captured in the “festive” atmosphere of the Christmas period.

The story, in fact, takes place between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve and the characters are members of a family of our times.
The small misunderstandings, the problems, the impulses, the expectations, the anxieties, the words spoken and the unconfessed feelings… all under the apparently distracted eye of a deaf grandfather who is present on the scene from beginning to end.

The themes, addressed lightly, are those common to all families: above all the relationships between parents and children and between husband and wife, but also with sisters, cousins, brothers-in-law… while the sounds of mobile phones, the entrance bell and the television always on, one after the other relentlessly. And then there are the songs and the advertisements that burst out loudly, the comic scenes, the moments of melancholy, the intolerance and, here and there, the need and inability to communicate as one would like.

“This year too we are offering with immense joy a comedy entirely written and performed by members of our Lions Club. Our director and author Alfonso Gueli as well as partner, in fact, with great commitment and passion, founded and runs the company “actors by chance” entirely made up of members of the Agrigento Host Lions Club. The entire proceeds will be donated to charity for families in financial difficulty in our city. Finally, like every year, this year too, after months of rehearsals and commitment, we can present at the Pirandello Theater a fun and enveloping comedy in a familiar atmosphere of our times but which for us also represents a moment to serve those who need a hand . I can only thank, obviously, the general director of the Salvo Prestia Theater for his availability and prompt collaboration. At the moment we are almost sold out and there are still very few places available. We are really happy with this great trust and expectation.”
The “Attori per caso” theater company was born in 2011 within the Agrigento Host Lions Club. It is made up of members who, driven by the desire to operate in the area and help those in difficulty, supported by a great passion for theater and its social function, have faced a certainly not easy path by carrying forward a project that lasts for thirteen years now. Their commitment was reflected in the presence of an increasingly numerous audience aware of the objectives pursued.
The following comedies were staged at the Teatro della Posta Vecchia:
“Via Roma 15, Scala B” (2012);
“I want to go and live in Australia” (2013);
“That day the architect made a mistake” (2014);
“It will be for the next time” (2016);
“Does happiness exist?” (2017);
“All the details in the news” (2018);
“The blue room” (2019).
“That day the architect made a mistake” (2023, at the Pirandello theatre).

The proceeds from each show have always been donated to charity.
