The ceremony will start at 4.30 pm with a greeting from the French municipal administration to that of Barletta, represented by the Mayor Cosimo Damiano Cannito and the Councilor for Culture Oronzo Cilli. We will then proceed to reach the house where Giuseppe De Nittis and his wife Leontine lived in his last years, the same one that with its garden was the backdrop to the wonderful work “Breakfast in the garden”, for the unveiling of the plaque commemorating his presence, 53 bis rue du maréchal Joffre.
Following this, in the multimedia room of the Municipality, the conference “Giuseppe De Nittis, an Italian Impressionist in Saint-Germain-en-Laye” will be held by Marina Ferretti, art historian and specialist in impressionist painting.
The initiative, promoted in collaboration with the Italyamo association of Saint-Germain-en-Laye, celebrates 150 years since the first impressionist exhibition in the studio of the Parisian photographer Nadar and pays homage to the Italian painter who knew how to enchant Parisians.
In the morning, Mayor Cannito and councilor Cilli will be guests of the Consul General of Italy in Paris, Irene Castagnoli.
