This year too, Umbria Jazz brings its music to one of the most prestigious and evocative locations in Perugia and Umbria: the Sala Podiani of National Gallery of Umbria. Jazz therefore returns to the museum where the great art of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance of Umbria and central Italy is kept, and it does so with a cultured and curious program, which sees the piano as the protagonist with the American Micah Thomasthe Spanish Marco Mezquidaand then Enrico Pieranunzi, Rita Marcotulli, Giovanni Guidi, Franco D’Andrea, Ramberto Ciammarughi.
The duo partnerships are also particular: Francesco Bearzatti and Paolo Birro with a tribute to Billy Strayhorn, the French Vincent Peirani (even in just one performance) ed Émile Parisien, Miguel Zenón And Luis Perdomo with “El arte del Bolero”, Gianluca Petrella And Pasquale Mirra with the unusual trombone-vibraphone-electronics formula.
They complete the billboard the trio of guitarist Eleonora Strinothe Italian-French quartet Weave4the Pieranunzi – Mirabassi – Bulgarelli trio with the project “Racconti Mediterranei”, the transgenerational trio Eddie & The Kids of the young guitarist Edoardo Ferri and the “veterans” Enzo Pietropaoli And Fabrizio Sferra. A sui generis rereading of Louis Armstrong is that offered by the “My Louis” project of the trumpeter’s quintet Mirco Rubegni.
