Chiaruccia says goodbye: “No industry here”

by Tiziana Petrelli

In Chiaruccia – that ‘Middle Earth’ which until now all the administrations have always indicated as the right place to establish a new service, be it the single hospital, the Olympic swimming pool, a 3 thousand seat sports hall, offices also of Aset, the fire station… – a Committee of residents is being formed who are concerned about the possibilities of industrial expansion in that area, despite the new Prg 2023 allocating it to a residential sector. At the moment the ‘Chiaruccia Verde Committee’ being formed (which in addition to greenery wants to protect the landscape and public health) is made up of Marco Antonini, Daniele and Guglielmo Bellagamba, Alessandro Bellucci, Tiziana Massaro, Massimiliano Mattia, Giancarlo Torcoletti and Bruno Rapa who today through Carlino they send an open letter to the new mayor Luca Serfilippi.

What moves them is concern for the fate of the AT-72-PA residential sector of which, shortly before the approval of the 2023 Prg, the Falcineto Cooperative sold its parcels to Profilglass, which would now be the owner of the entire sector. The fear of the residents of the area is that on that land of approximately 25 thousand square meters the company will create an equipped covered area of 6000 square meters for the purpose of storing articulated vehicles and an adjoining spare parts warehouse because it is “clearly in contrast with the urban planning and landscape context ” observe the residents. Especially since “the protection of the health of residents, their well-being and their property would be lost with the construction of a structure in which the movement of vehicles or goods would take place, with the production of both air quality and noise pollution” in addition to an inevitable “reduction in the value of properties”. Another problem then would be if “an ad hoc road system were granted to allow access to via Campanella, unlike the VII street which is currently the only access to the area, but which is prohibited for the transit of vehicles weighing more than 5 tons with a full load”.

What is certain, however, is that by June 30th the Falcineto Cooperative will have to remove the olive trees it had in those lands and that by the end of the year it will have to eliminate the asbestos covering an agricultural shed. “We followed his electoral campaign with great attention – write the residents of Serfilippi, not surprisingly before he appoints the members of his council and entrusts them with delegations – and we were particularly struck by his repeatedly demonstrated commitment to preserving the area of Chiaruccia as a residential area. We fully share his vision of a future for our city focused on the sustainability and well-being of citizens and his primary commitment to their health of fundamental importance so that it continues to perform the function of a green lung between the industrial area and the populous neighborhoods of Sant’Orso, Rosciano and Bellocchi”.

The invitation is to keep the word given to the citizens who have placed their trust in him. “We trust – they conclude – that his promises are the first of those kept and not the first of those disregarded: that his commitment to preserving the residential urban destination of the Chiaruccia area will be maintained, in particular in those sectors where already foreseen by the PRG 2023, and to prevent the establishment of any type of industrial and/or artisanal activity, garage and/or yard for the storage of heavy vehicles”.
