Italian Paralympic Committee – Sitting volleyball: Parma Italian champion among women, Nola among men

There is always a first time. Although considered for some years one of the best women’s sitting volleyball teams, Giocoparma had not yet managed to win the championship. He did it today, at home, in front of his own audience, overcoming the multiple championship winner Dream Volley Pisa (the Tuscans) 3-2 (31-33, 25-13, 25-21, 23-25-16-14) had won the six previous editions of the Italian Championship), in a beautiful, exciting and spectacular final that entertained the public present at the “Lorenzo Ponti” Palasport.
A match played at a very high level by both teams (there were 10 Italian teams on the field who less than a year ago became European Champions in Caorle and won the pass for the Paralympic Games in Paris).
In the final for third and fourth place, however, at 8.30 am the bells of Nola Città dei Gigli beat the Romans of SportAcademy 360 3-0 (25-17, 25-23, 25-20). The girls led on the bench by Vittorio Pasciari therefore confirm the placing obtained in Parma exactly one year ago.

Francesca Bosio of GiocoParma was elected MVP of the event.

THE FINAL. In the first set, the reigning Italian champions of Dream Volley attempted to break away, but Gioco Parma, thanks to an excellent turn of service with Bosio, first grabbed the equalizer and then overtook the game (12-11). As the action progressed, Pisa’s attack was a thorn in Parma’s side.
Infinite set finale with the two teams fighting point for point and the partial was only resolved in Pisa’s favor with a 33-31 lead.
GiocoParma did well in the second set. The girls led on the bench by Fabio Marmiroli were good at organizing the game well, finding effective offensive patterns (8-2). As the action progressed, Parma continued to play good sitting volleyball and ended up closing the second set in their favor 25-13, restoring parity in the set count.
Third set characterized by a fast start by Giocoparma (11-6), the gap widened as the minutes passed. When the path to Parma seemed to be downhill, Dream Volley Pisa began to weave its own comeback 20-20). The end of the set smiles on Ceccon and her teammates who, thanks to Bosio’s winning ace 25-21, close the partial in their favor.
The fourth set began immediately at a high pace and with GiocoParma doing well to accumulate the first lead. Subsequently, Pisa forcefully returned to the match and after obtaining the equaliser, they produced the last effort which allowed them to close 25-23 and take the match to a tie-break.
Tie-break started in favor of Pisa who, thanks to a series of winning attacks by the Italian Aringhieri, moved up to +3 (8-5). Giocoparma, however, changed gear at that point and with grit and determination finished 16-14, winning the first Italian title in its history.

At the end of the championship final, the usual awards ceremony took place which saw the participation, among others, of the federal councilor Silvia Strigazzi, the head of the political secretariat of the Emilia Romagna Region Giammaria Manghi and the president of the CT FIPAV Parma Cesare Gandolfi.
