Borgo San Giuliano loses one of its main restaurants. Next Saturday the adventure of Sottosale will end, the restaurant inaugurated eight years ago in the same spaces where Serena Grandi’s Locanda di Miranda and, before that, Acero rosso, the first starred restaurant in Rimini, had been located. The managers themselves made the announcement. “For us it is a difficult choice, because the restaurant is doing quite well – stated Andrea Pinto, the owner – In recent years, Sottosale has managed to grow and consolidate itself. The decision to close depends only on family reasons. Myself and I wife Yulia, who runs the restaurant with me, we understood that the time had come to take a break. We want to start a family, and the commitment that a place like Sottosale requires would have made everything more complicated for us.” But Pinto and his wife’s farewell is not a farewell to catering. “With Sottosale we had a wonderful experience, which allowed us to grow and better understand the world of catering. We have some good plans for the future, but now we’re taking some time for ourselves.” What will happen to Sottosalt? Will it continue under another management or will the name and type of place change? “The situation is evolving, we will be able to say something more about it in a few days.”

Now is the time for greetings and thanks. “In recent years we have had a very good time in Borgo San Giuliano and we have been lucky enough to witness the changes and redevelopment works in the area. And we had a great time with all our colleagues, the level of catering at Borgo San Giuliano is very high”. As soon as the news of the closure spread, many wrote and called Pinto. “We were pleased, because it means that we have also left something from a human point of view, not just a business one. Many customers have become friends and a special bond has been created with them. We look forward to seeing them all next Saturday to have one last toast together here time”. He will not only close the restaurant, but also the sushi room. Sottosale was the first to bring sushi to the village of San Giuliano.
