Approximately 14 teachers participated in the training course, carried out thanks to the collaboration with the BLSD District Commission of District 2110 of Rotary International chaired by Governor Goffredo Vaccaro and the Rotary Club of Mazara del Vallo, who attended the course held by accredited Rotarian trainers. The lessons were held by Dr. Riccardo Lembo and Dr. Giovanni Ingargiola district commission representatives and also by the instructor dr. Giuseppe Angileri, member of the organizing club as well as Dr. Simonetta Alagna and finally Dr. Angela Calcara.

Basic knowledge of first aid interventions was provided. The course was divided into two parts: theoretical, with the viewing of slides and some videos, and practical, where the students, through simulations, were able to try the techniques learned on mannequins. A final evaluation then ascertained the skills achieved.

Ample space was dedicated both to cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers and to the use of the defibrillator, an instrument now considered essential in early intervention. In fact, in the event of sudden cardiac arrest, timely intervention through correct CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and appropriate use of the defibrillator significantly increases the chances of survival and significantly reduces the onset of brain damage in survivors. permanent.

The Headmaster Dr. Eleonora Pipitone of the Ajello/Borsellino Comprehensive Institute, after the greetings, expressed great appreciation for the service offered by Rotary aimed at training citizens in first aid practices. Dr. Pipitone also recalled the fruitful collaboration between Rotary and the Ajello/Borsellino school institute.

Also present were the President of the Rotary Club of Mazara del Vallo Girolamo Misuraca and the secretary Giuseppe Sinacori. In his short speech, President Misuraca underlined how the statistics suggest that the timely and appropriate implementation of life support maneuvers and techniques otherwise known as Cardipulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), it is an indispensable condition that this aid is able to reduce the mortality of these people, greatly improving their survival rate. Taking into account that timely assistance can only be provided by the people present on site at the pathological event, as the intervention interval is very short (Golden time: 5 minutes), it is necessary to make every effort to spread as much as possible throughout the population knowledge and practice of these CPR techniques.
