The Carabinieri of Castelleone arrested a 51-year-old man. Having been convicted, he must serve a final sentence for eight aggravated thefts from cosmetics companies. He must serve a sentence of two years, two months and 14 days in prison for a conviction by the Court of Cremona in 2020, which has now become executive. In 2016 and 2017, together with other people, he was responsible for eight aggravated thefts at cosmetics companies in various municipalities in the provinces of Cremona and Bergamo.

Thefts in companies

In November 2018 the Carabinieri of Crema, Cremona, Casalmaggiore and the Milan area had successfully concluded the Make up operation, with 10 precautionary measures, of which four in prison and six under house arrest. As Lieutenant Colonel Girardi explains, “in the autumn of 2016, thefts of products of high economic value, not yet placed on the market, began in the various cosmetics companies in the Crema area”.

The complicity of family members

“They had been able to act undisturbed for a long time, with the complicity of family members who worked in the companies. Four people ended up in prison and another six under house arrest for having formed, according to the hypothesis of the crime, a syndicate dedicated to the repetition of aggravated thefts to the detriment of companies. Not only those in the Crema area, where cosmetics is a productive excellence, but also in the neighboring areas, the Bergamo area in particular, where the gang would also have struck against leather goods and clothing and accessories shops”.

Half a million euros

Overall, the operation had allowed the recovery of approximately 100,000 pieces of cosmetics worth 500 thousand euros, all returned to the companies. In 2020, the Cremona Court sentenced the fifty-one-year-old, considered one of those responsible for eight thefts. The public prosecutor’s office of Cremona has now issued the detention order. The measure was carried out by the Carabinieri of Castelleone. The man was tracked down and accompanied to the Cremona prison.
