The childhood children of Genoa on a “journey” to discover the city

L’AQUILA – This morning the children of the “Gianni di Genova” nursery school together with parents and teachers concluded the school year with the project “Waiting for 2026: L’Aquila city of culture”, an educational journey that had as its main objective that of educating active citizenship to become future citizens of the world and consciously live our time.

Over the months, the children worked in section with their teachers through workshops that introduced them to the knowledge of the city’s history, the most important and characterizing monuments, the four quarters, the legends and culinary traditions. All this gave life to artefacts which were displayed today in an exhibition inside the school premises to be enjoyed by family members and from 17th to 19th June they will be available to all citizens.

The project also had immersive moments inside the symbolic places such as the visit to the basilica of Santa Maria di Collemaggio to discover the floors rich in symbolism and geometry.

As a true educating community, the parents also took an active part in the project and in fact during the school year they prepared the children with music lessons in order to create today’s cantata of songs in the L’Aquila dialect which was accompanied by a mother with the accordion.

For Professor Antonella Conio, principal of the “Dante Alighieri” Comprehensive Institute of which the nursery school is part, “today was a beautiful moment of being a school and a community, parents and teachers united in the process of children’s growth. children to make them become aware citizens”.
