Salerno, cockroaches and mice in the street, extra rodent control by the ASL begins after the complaints

An extra commitment to guarantee urban hygiene and above all to reduce the problem of cockroaches and mice which, with the summer heat, becomes heavier and becomes an obstacle for traders, thanks (also) to Clean Salerno. The meeting took place on Wednesday morning at the city hall, after the meeting by the councilor for commerce Dario Loffredo, between the local health authority (Arcangelo Saggese Tozzi was present), the mayor Enzo Napoli, the president of Salerno Pulita Vincenzo Bennet, the councilor for the environment Massimiliano Natella and the city councilor Vittoria Cosentino invited by Loffredo himself. In summary, after having collected numerous complaints from traders and to try to straighten things out regarding the presence of mice and cockroaches in the city, already with the first heat, the local health company gave the OK for a rodent control ” extra” with a view to collaboration that is already included in the calendar prepared by the ASL. No to “do it yourself” therefore with the councilor’s appeal to respect the deadlines but with the commitment to ensure that the phenomenon can be managed in the best possible way. For a few days now, the city center has once again become home to the most varied animal species that feed – usually – on waste and residues left on the streets by those who make incivility a lifestyle. And this is why the councilor for commerce Dario Loffredo had convened the coordination table with the ASL of Salerno and the president of Salerno Pulita, Vincenzo Bennet, to discuss, collaborate and look for solutions to be adopted closely. After having collected numerous requests from traders and owners of bars, restaurants and nightlife venues, the member of the municipal council wanted to follow the path of teamwork to guarantee a solution and thus start the good season in the best possible way (which has already begun in truth) of initiatives and tourism that can make the operators breathe better.

«It is clear that the situation has already improved thanks to the work of Salerno Pulita which has increased waste collection for merchants – declared Loffredo – the ASL has guaranteed us that the intervention calendar will soon be made official but the in-house company has given availability to carry out additional targeted rodent control. We will intervene in all the central areas in addition to those already covered by the local health authority.” Also participating was councilor Natella who focused on the rodent control which will be carried out in the same way as last year, with a call for tenders which will start shortly, with the Municipality which will entrust the service to an external company and which will support the Local health authority activities.

«We are looking for a synergy to meet the needs of citizens and traders – underlined Natella – We are evaluating integrating the service, we will replicate last year’s intervention. For tree pruning, however, it is the least suitable period. We continue to intervene where possible: we do not carry out incisive pruning but we will contain the inconveniences while respecting the tree heritage.”
