LIVORNO. There are 42 stairwells in the Livorno canals which will be affected by “intensive weeding” in the next few days, explains the Municipality. «Not an action as an end in itself – continues the administration – but a program that aims at constant maintenance in the summer and autumn months, also considering the degradation due precisely to the tall grass that is often and historically recorded along the canals, generally used only by the owners of the boats but still an image of the city”.
Yesterday morning, the municipal administration and the Northern Tyrrhenian Sea Port System Authority, awaiting the decree that will establish the direct competences of the areas, reached an agreement that will allow Aamps, with expenses entirely borne by the Authority, to employ dedicated teams presumably as early as next week with the aim of operating before the rowing races scheduled for Wednesday 22nd on the occasion of the Santa Giulia celebrations.
We will start with the 20 scalandroni closest to the race route, continuing with the remaining 22. «Inspections were immediately carried out to understand the workloads, also looking at the weeds that had grown on the walls of the ditches, so as to also define a subsequent eradication project”, underlines Palazzo civico.
Here is the list of streets and ports targeted and which affect all the descents to the canals: Scali Manzoni, Scali D’Azeglio, Via dell’Indipendenza, Piazza Cavour, Scali degli Olandesi, Scali Saffi, Viale degli Avvalorati, Piazza Garibaldi , Scali delle Cantine, Scali delle Pietre, Scali del Corso, Scali del Pontine, Scali Finocchietti, Scali del Pesce, Scali del Ponte di Marmo, Scali del Monte Pio, Scali del Refugio, Piazza dei Domenicani and Via Ganucci.
