A charity project that involved the students of the fourth and fifth classes of the 3rd CD “R. Cotugno”: this is the “Race Against Hunger”, an initiative of the international humanitarian organisation, leader in the fight against hunger and child malnutrition, Action Against Hunger, which today will see young students taking action in person to raise funds to support the noble aims of the non-profit organization in the pine forest in front of the municipal villa.
The objectives were already illustrated in meetings held in the school auditorium, thanks to the director Filomena Cannone: prevent, diagnose and treat malnutrition in the world, this year in particular in Bangladesh. How? Providing safe water, sanitation to avoid the development of diseases, strengthening agriculture, livestock, fishing and other activities to produce more food sustainably.
The meeting was planned in order to present to the students and their families the multidisciplinary project of making students responsible towards social issues with particular attention to world hunger.
The highly educational initiative will end today with the solidarity race which will see the pupils as protagonists, under the aegis of teachers and experts: the teacher Flora Tesoro is responsible for the project. The project links sport and solidarity with the aim of empowering students by enriching their skills related to civic education, as requested by the Ministry. The Race Against Hunger involves students by making them an active part of the learning process, with an innovative model of empowerment.
