A historical moment told through a painting and a photograph that the City of Parma, delivered by the hands of Mayor Michele Guerrawanted to donate to Parma Calciopromoted to Serie A: a photograph that portrays Sunday evening, the day in which fans and citizens poured into the streets of Parma and Piazza Garibaldi to welcome the team, winners of the Serie B championship.
Yesterday morning, in the council room of the Municipality of Parma, the Mayor Michele Guerra and the Councilor for Sport, Marco Bosi, convened the Men’s First Team, accompanied by the Managing Director Sport Roel Vaeyens and the Sporting Director Mauro Pederzoli, to recognize the great result achieved this season.

“It is the official occasion of celebration in which we gratefully recognize the team for this great sporting merit” was the debut of Mayor Guerra who welcomed, in addition to the champion team, also councillors, municipality employees and journalists. At the end of the interventions, a painting was donated with a photograph that will forever portray Piazza Garibaldi submerged by the yellow-blue hearts of the celebrating fans.

“Parma football has sporting and social value and carries the name of the city throughout the world – states the Mayor of Parma Michele Guerra – one of the strongest brands in Europe and in the world to identify our city. It is strong like parmesan, it is strong like Verdi and like Parma ham to identify a specific excellence of our territory. Thanks to you we have experienced a season that I have no hesitation in defining as unforgettable with an awareness that was born with Angelo’s cross and from there led us to an extraordinary result. The feeling of the city was really close to the team and it was something unique. The enthusiasm in the square, already after Bari, and seeing the influx of real celebrations into Piazza Garibaldi, when it was certain that the championship had been won, was unique. As a child I experienced Parma’s first promotion, then I was lucky enough to experience other promotions and European successes, but even people older than me told me that we have never seen a place like this. In recognition we wanted to forever immortalise this square which contains so many different meanings and values. Thank you for what you have given and for what you will continue to give in the next championships that await us at the highest level.”

Thanks to the Mayor and the administration. Being here is a great satisfaction, it is the end of a job that lasted 24 months. As I always said before every match, we play to win but by doing it together. We are an example of an image of a historic city, of excellence. If we do things with great emotion, we can also convey them. The best thing is to have conveyed emotions. The party with the city is proof of this. We all did it together, with the Club and with an invisible team that is not here today. It’s an effective and concrete union, we want to continue to win but we really have to do it all together” – concludes the Crociati coach Fabio Pecchia.
