Marco Farneti withdraws from the electoral race in Foligno due to attacks on social media
Marco Farneti, a citizen of Foligno, has decided to withdraw his candidacy in the next local elections due to the unsustainable climate created by attacks on social media. Farneti, who ran on the League list, would never have imagined becoming the target of insults on social media and WhatsApp groups by a person who wanted him to side with another political faction.
Farneti, shaken and disheartened, recounted the story he has been experiencing for a few days, made up of insults on social media and personal attacks which, in the life of a small hamlet like Vescia, bounce daily between the houses and the streets. He is 56 years old, was born and lives in Vescia, a hamlet of Foligno, is president of the Pro Loco and deals with social issues. He has always been dedicated to the community, offering support to people.
In view of the local elections, Farneti had decided to get involved for the exclusive good of the city and to guarantee a greater contribution to the community. He was also ready to resign from the position of president of the Pro Loco for a matter of regulation and transparency. Having never been involved in politics, he had chosen to meet various people, even from different sides, to learn about the various programs and perspectives and be able to choose with serenity which path to take.
However, after choosing to side with the mayor Stefano Zuccarini on the League list, the mud machine started and insults began on social media from a person who did not accept him running with a list other than his . The insults received on social media and within WhatsApp groups were reported in the complaint filed with the Carabinieri for defamation when the situation became untenable.
Farneti, who is not used to this type of behavior and this climate of tension, has therefore decided to withdraw from the electoral race. Despite his discomfort, he still remains involved in social issues and in his community, with the awareness of being able to help, never to divide or create controversy.
