A huge success for the school team in Montesilvano

Great satisfaction for the team, made up of IV and V students, who yesterday, in Montesilvano, won the gold medal at the “School Chess Trophy”, valid for the Italian junior team championships.

“Chess is a matter of timing. It’s not enough to play the right move, you also have to play it at the right time. Knowing how to contain yourself is one of the most difficult things for the average chess player to learn”, commented Bobby Fisher, one of the most difficult figures to categorize in the varied world of the strongest chess players of every era. And we can speak of perfect timing for the team captain, Andrea Aimonewho thus crowns the dream he has been pursuing for 5 years, achieving the national laurel a few months after completing his studies in our school.

Under the supervision of prof. Giovanni Sorbello and the instructors Federico Venturino and Denis Bouanani, the Aimone team, made up of Davide Cristea, Davide Sangiovanni, Andrea and Luca Zavattero prevailed with 6 wins and a draw.

To play the national final, the Vercelli team has passed the provincial and regional phases: they play at a rapid pace (20/25 minutes each plus any increases in the first two phases, while at the national teams they have from 40 to 60 minutes plus any increase depending on the regulation).

The performance of the Allievi team (Di Sabato, Likaj, Sartor, Mera, Musso, Ruta) was also positive, playing on par with high-level opponents.
