21 year old arrested by the State Police

State Police personnel arrested a 21-year-old young man from Taranto believed to be responsible for the crime of possession for the purpose of dealing drugs.

The Flying Squad policemen, as part of an operation in the Paolo Sesto neighbourhood, noticed a young man walking at a brisk pace after crossing Piazza Pertini and taking Corso Bruno Buozzi.

Along the way he was noticed looking around with extreme caution, clutching a pouch to his chest probably with the intention of hiding it. During the police checks, the 21-year-old, pretending to consent to their identification, taking a document from his wallet with a sudden move, managed to escape by reversing the route. Returning to Piazza Pertini, he climbed onto the saddle of an unaware passing motorcyclist with the intention of disappearing completely, an unsuccessful attempt due to the lack of cooperation of the owner of the motorbike. Despite his extreme, desperate attempt to cover his tracks, he was caught and stopped by the police.

The personal search allowed the recovery of one gram of cocaine, one hundred grams of hashish divided into doses, a plastic sachet with approximately 10 grams of marijuana, as well as the sum of 200 euros in small denomination banknotes.

The subsequent check in the nearby apartment made it possible to recover the material for packaging doses of the narcotic substances.

Having sent the documents to the competent judicial authority, the young man was arrested because he was allegedly responsible for the crime of possession for the purpose of dealing narcotic substances. He is under house arrest in his parents’ house.
