The fire heading south after the Altilia Grimaldi junction

Fire brigade teams from the Catanzaro Command, Lamezia Terme detachment with support from Autobotte intervened at approximately 3.00 pm on the A2 Mediterranean motorway heading south after the Altilia Grimaldi junction due to a fire in an articulated lorry.
An articulated lorry in transit used for the transport of various materials was affected by the fire.

The driver, having noticed the fire, pulled the vehicle over and abandoned it before it was completely engulfed in flames. The intervention of the firefighters led to the complete extinction of the fire and the safety of the site and the vehicle. Traffic police were on site to carry out their duties and Anas personnel to restore the normal safety conditions of the road. The A2 in the section affected by the accident was completely closed to traffic until the end of the rescue operations. At the moment only the northbound carriageway is reopened.
