Return the May 19, 2024 the seventh edition of the historic cycle of the city of Naples “The Volcanic”. The Neapolitan vintage cycle it is an event traveled mainly on roads with cobblestones, the cazzimbocchi in the Neapolitan dialect.
This is where you will experience the spirit of cycling from times gone by. It’s about the second stage of the circuit the Tour of Cycling Regions 2024 with ten events throughout Italy, from the Maleventum of Benevento and to the Marittima of Scauri, the historical cycle from the waterfalls to the lake of Isola Liri, the Velletrana, the Felliniana, the Epica of Caserta, the Carrareccia of Lake Bolsena, the ” Francesco nei Sentieri” of Perugia, L’Aglianica of Taursasi and the historical cycle Puglia of Polignano a Mare.
The objective of “La Vulcanica”
The aim is to take a dive into the past, from clothing, to bikes, to the route, everything has a more authentic flavour. Without too much technology or technical suits. Spirit of adventure, sweat, effort and brotherhood among the participating cyclists are the key ingredients for the success of the event. The mandatory regulation states that to participate it is necessary to have vintage bikes in order to free vehicles from attics and warehouses that have not been used for years and get them back into motion.
When “La Vulcanica” begins
The appointment It’s for Sunday May 19th at 7.00 sharp in Bicycle House, Galleria Principe di Napoli, coffee croissant and off we go. The first panoramic passage will be at viewpoint of Monte Echia, followed by an energy recharge with the Poppella alla Sanità snowflake. We will continue passing from the Botanical Garden to the Real Albergo dei Poveri, then to the Real Bosco di Capodimonte, climbing from the new access of Santa Maria ai Monti which will take participants to the magnificent refreshment area of Giardino Torre, a historic Bourbon citrus grove renovated with care and style by Royal Delights. Once out of the woods we will pass through the Vallone San Rocco, welcomed by the “Ponte tra Quartiere e Vallone” association and then dive into the Sanità and Quartieri Spagnoli.
There will be a passage in Piazza del Plebiscito, a passage along the seafront admiring the Castel dell’Ovo and then the cyclists will find themselves facing the splendid hairpin bends uphill towards the Posillipo hill with unique views overlooking the Gulf of Naples.
New this year will be the double pathin fact, in addition to the classic route of about 50 kilometers (with less than 1000 meters of difference in altitude) which will cross the length and breadth of the city showing its artistic heritage in all its splendor, there will also be the extended version which will reach the area flegrea on the shores of Lake Averno for a well-deserved refreshment with the delicious Procolinoa typical dessert from the city of Pozzuoli dell’Antica Pastry shop del Giudice and a passage through the forty hectares of the Mostra d’Oltremare park.
